Whether in environmental or social terms: Borussia Dortmund is also an attractive partner off the pitch.

BVB recognises its responsibility and influence as a club and uses it to tackle wider social issues. For example, Borussia Dortmund was the first club to organise a charity match and a medical aid campaign to support the people of Ukraine. BVB has also supported Sebastian Haller and used its platforms to raise awareness of testicular cancer.

BVB stands for a holistic commitment to social improvement and anti-discrimination. The commitment to sustainability goes beyond rhetoric and platitudes. It is tangible, measurable and gives all stakeholders the opportunity to drive forward their efforts. It is aligned with the ISO 14001 environmental standard and the UN Global Compact, a worldwide pact to make globalisation more socially and environmentally responsible.

Borussia Dortmund is also committed to continuity in its youth programmes. The fact that the German U17 national team won the European Championship in 2023 with four BVB players on the squad underlines the success of BVB's youth work. The club's U23s have been playing in the 3. Bundesliga since the 2021/22 season. The "leuchte auf" foundation was established in 2012 to provide material, financial and non-material support for charitable projects in the region. Whether it is preventive social work with children and young people, political youth education, an ecological education programme or bundling the social commitment of our fan clubs. The themes of the foundation's work are as varied, colourful and diverse as Borussia Dortmund's millions of fans.

Green-certified buildings by the end of 2024, annual solar power production of 384,477 kWh and 170 tonnes of CO2 reduction via the stadium roof, steadily increasing sustainability in merchandising and mobility concepts, tickets valid for local public transport and much more: the responsible use of natural resources and the protection of the environment and climate are a central field of action in the BVB's strategy. We are in constant dialogue with our partners and sponsors about joint options for action.
