SPORTFIVE wins ‘Supporters of Women’s Sport’ honour at Sport Business Awards 2023

Global sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE has won the ‘Women’s Sport Business Award - Supporters of Women’s Sport’ at the Sport Business Awards 2023.

On Friday, 10th November, leading professionals from around the sports industry gathered to celebrate the very best work within the business of sport at the Sport Business Awards ceremony in London. 

The ceremony saw representatives from every corner of the sports industry gather, with 18 awards categories presented, including ‘Best Sports Event of The Year’, ‘Most Successful Sports Event Broadcast’ and ‘Sustainability in Sport Award’. 

Notable award winners on the night included Liverpool Football Club and Standard Chartered - Best Brand Activation Involving Sport, FIFA World Cup 2022 and BeIN Media Group - Most Successful Sports Event Broadcast and Netball World Cup 2023 and World Netball - Best Sports Event of The Year

One of the most significant awards on the night was the ‘Women’s Sport Business Award’ which recognised organisations that are making a positive impact to the growth of Women’s sport. 

We’re incredibly proud to work across so many aspects of women's sport, from commercial partnerships and brand activation to media and talent services, and this award serves as a testament to our ongoing commitment to develop the sector in the years to come.

Having been shortlisted for the award in August, SPORTFIVE staved off competition from the likes of Women’s Super League and Red Roses Rugby World Cup to win the honour on the night. 

SPORTFIVE were recognised for our comprehensive work within women’s sport, which spans across a number of sectors, including Commercial Partnership Brokerage, Brand Activation, Talent Services, Production Services and Media Services. 

Special recognition was also awarded for our work on UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, where a revolutionary commercial sponsorship programme was implemented, delivering crucial exposure, credibility and commercial value to the tournament. 

First working in women’s sport in the 1990s, through our marketing of the TV rights for Wimbledon, SPORTFIVE set the overall development and growth of the women’s sport business as one of our main strategic objectives in 2020, and have been working to develop the industry ever since.

One standout project has emerged as part of this work following their involvement in the UEFA Women’s European Championships a seminal moment for women’s sport in England. The Commercial Sponsor Programme, packaged and sold on behalf of the Football Association, secured funding for the game, and showcased the marketing value of women’s football to premium brands, essential to its ongoing growth and professionalisation.
