The Power of Data in Esports: SAP Presents "A New Perspective 2"

Following the success of the first instalment of the esports documentary "A New Perspective," SAP and BUILD A ROCKET are proud to announce the release of the sequel, which will once again provide deep insights into the world of professional esports.

The documentary explores the multifaceted role of coaches and the growing importance of data science in the esports space.

Cologne / Walldorf, 16.08.2023 – Esports agency BUILD A ROCKET and SAP SE set new standards in esports: The second part of the esports documentary "A New Perspective" provides unique insights into the relevance of Data Science in Esports.

SAP's innovative, data-driven tool provides coaches, trainers and teams with valuable data to improve performance, visualise player potential and make informed decisions. The tool is not only used for team optimisation, but also for talent identification.

This groundbreaking project is presented in the documentary "A New Perspective 2", which BUILD A ROCKET produced together with SAP. SAP is also launching the film at Gamescom in Cologne, the world's largest trade fair for video games.

In addition, SAP will be presenting its other esports activities at Gamescom, inviting visitors to a meet and greet with a streamer from Team Liquid and offering Gamescom visitors entertainment with a virtual claw machine.

With the data pool, SAP provides its partners with data from their own and the opposing team's previous games, which are visualised on dashboards. With the help of predictive analytics, coaches can make decisions, set up teams according to the analyses and determine strategies. The data tool is an ideal complement for a professional training culture in esports, which includes emotional, mental and health coaching, as well as the use of data that can make the difference between winning and losing. Based on historical data, the tool provides innovative insights how opposing teams are likely to perform. In addition, talent that fits particularly well into the existing team in terms of profile can be identified at an early stage.

"The BUILD A ROCKET team has its finger on the pulse when it comes to new opportunities in Esports."

Modern Employer Branding with Esports

SAP has recognised that esports enthusiasts and gamers can be the decision-makers of tomorrow. The outstanding skills and digital affinity of this target group make them sought-after employees and are invaluable in the "war for talents".

To be present as an attractive employer to the target group, the partnership between SAP and BUILD A ROCKET goes beyond the development of the data tool. With various partnerships and innovative content formats, the world's leading provider of business software, headquartered in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, offers great added value for the community. They provide a deeper insight into professional gameplay and help to increase viewership of esports tournaments. In addition, SAP sponsors Team Liquid and supports events around the world.

"The BUILD A ROCKET team has its finger on the pulse when it comes to new opportunities in Esports," said Thomas Esser, Head of Esports Partnerships at SAP. "This has helped us many times to take early advantage of innovative digital activation options with fantastic results."

Through its collaboration with BUILD A ROCKET, SAP is demonstrating that successful integration into the esports community is possible. From talent acquisition and data-driven analytics to the creation of new content formats, the partnership has positioned SAP as a pioneer in esports and made the company a leading player in this rapidly growing industry.

"The esports community is a reservoir of outstanding talent with a huge potential of future decision makers. Recognising this, SAP has increased its involvement in esports to not only find talent, but also strengthen its position as an employer brand. We are proud to support SAP in accessing the Esports and gaming community. The data tool is the best proof of how authentic integration with added value for the community can succeed," says Alexander Albrecht, founder and CEO of BUILD A ROCKET.
