Paris, January 17th 2023 – Nexans, a key player in electrification and a leader in the design and manufacture of cable systems and services, is proud to announce the extension and strengthening of its partnership with Racing Club de Lens.
With strong roots in the Hauts de France region, and more specifically in Lens since 1929 with the presence of the last copper smelter in France, Nexans is asserting itself as a key partner of Racing Club de Lens, a club with a strong identity and glorious past (French Champion, League Cup, Drago Cup, Intertoto Cup). A project carried out jointly with the support of SPORTFIVE, the international sports marketing agency.
Nexans' association with RC Lens illustrates shared values of commitment and team spirit. These values are embodied and supported by both the RC Lens players, who distinguished themselves during the last season, and by Nexans' employees who work daily for the energy transition. Joint operations between Nexans' Lens employees and the club are also regularly organized.
With the reinforcement of this sponsorship, initiated in December 2021, Nexans will benefit from an important visibility of its brand, which will be implemented for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons at the Stade Bollaert Delelis on match days as well as on the "Sang & Or" club's digital communication media. The Group's logo will also be positioned on the heart side of the players' shirts.
Philippe DEMAREZ, Manager of the Nexans factory in Lens, says : «Nexans is very proud to continue its partnership with Racing Club de Lens, displaying its colors even more strongly on the jerseys of the men's and women's first teams. The same values of commitment and team spirit animate Nexans employees and the Sang & Or teams, so it is natural that the association of these two leading regional figures continues. With the same passion, Nexans continues to electrify RC Lens!»
Arnaud POUILLE, General Manager of RACING CLUB DE LENS, adds : «As I had the opportunity to emphasize when the partnership was signed, Nexans, like Racing, represents Lens. When you visit the Lens site, the flagship of local industry, you are immediately imbued with strong values - team spirit, humility, courage - which are similar to those of the mining basin and Racing. It is not a brand but a real emblem of the region that we will wear on our tunics, precisely on the heart side, above our coat of arms. We are delighted with this natural connection, which gives even more meaning to our partnership strategy.»
«We are happy to have contributed to the rapprochement of two major players in the Hauts de France region. RC Lens and Nexans will be able to convey strong messages and raise awareness in their communities about the challenges of electrification and energy transition through soccer.»
Laurent MORETTI, Managing Director France of SPORTFIVE
With this partnership, Nexans reaffirms its involvement in the world of sports and its values of unity and commitment. This renewed support to RC Lens is an example of Nexans' human and humanistic commitment, which is illustrated through numerous institutional sponsorship actions and cultural, academic and sports partnerships.

With nearly 25,000 people in 42 countries, the Group is leading the charge towards the new world of electrification: safer, sustainable, renewable, decarbonized and accessible to all. The Group is a leader in the design and manufacture of cable systems and services across five main business areas: Power Generation & Transmission, Distribution, Consumer Products, Industry & Solutions and Telecommunications & Data.
