MG Motor France and Olympique Lyonnais renew their Major Partnership for three years

Paris, June 24, 2024 - MG Motor France is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with Olympique Lyonnais (OL) until 2027, with SPORTFIVE, an international sports marketing agency. As the club's jersey partner since 2021, MG Motor is extending its collaboration as exclusive automotive supplier to the club. After an exceptional season marked by renewal and determination, the MG Motor logo will appear on the team's shirts throughout the season, becoming the club's exclusive automotive partner. MG Motor and OL are once again combining their talents to conquer new heights.

This year, OL has been able to mobilize its talents and count on the unfailing support of its fans to return to the top of the table and grab European places, qualifying for the Europa League on the very last day of the championship. The unique strength and determination of this revitalized team perfectly embodies the values that MG Motor wishes to promote.

Concrete records for MG Motor in France and a long-term investment

With worldwide sales of over 5 million vehicles by 2023, SAIC Group, owner of MG Motor, is China's automotive market leader. The chinese giant is present in 90 countries, with over 2,000 sales and distribution outlets worldwide. Last year, 840,000 MGs were sold around the globe. To sustain its growth, SAIC Group will shortly be announcing the opening of a production plant in Europe.

Over the past three years, MG Motor has achieved record growth in the french market. The manufacturer with the octagon reached 34,441 units sold in 2023, representing a market share of 1.88%, in less than 3 years.

MG Motor has successfully launched a number of electric models, with the MG4 and MG ZS EV both on the best-selling podium in their class, responding to a growing demand for more environmentally-friendly, innovative vehicles. The MG4 even has the luxury of being the best-selling 100% electric compact on the French market in 2023.

These achievements reflect MG Motor's commitment to providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions, notably with the 7-year or 150,000 km warranty applied to all its products.

Shared goals for future records

This strategic partnership will enable MG Motor to continue developing its reputation in the french and european markets, while supporting a club that embodies the spirit of fighting spirit and determination. The OL teams will continue to benefit from the performance of MG's electric and hybrid vehicles.

At the signing ceremony for the partnership renewal, the OL teams were able to discover the new MG vehicles. First up was the MG Cyberster, with its elegant design combining the heritage of the iconic roadster with the brand's innovative identity. Also on show is the prototype of the MG IM LS6, a top-of-the-range 100% electric SUV with innovative technological features. Last but not least, the MG3 Hybrid+, with its "Full Hybrid" engine capable of running in 100% electric mode, and the MG4, with a range of 350 to 520 km and 170 to 435 hp, were also on show, providing teams with a new and exciting driving experience.

This collaboration between the two brands will also enable MG to continue developing its sales network in France, from 80 distributors in 2021 to 200 by the end of 2024, including a new Showroom in Vénissieux, in the Lyon metropolis with the Jean Lain distribution group.
