Home of the "Yellow Wall”

Built in 1974, the stadium has been the home ground of Borussia Dortmund for almost 50 years. The eight 62-metre-high yellow pylons, that frame the arena, are highly recognisable - and have become an established part of Dortmund's skyline.

Between coal, steel and football

Although Dortmund is located in the heart of the Ruhr region, it is considered one of the greenest major cities in Germany - because the proportion of green spaces is around 70 percent. Alongside coal and steel, football plays a particularly important role in the region. Fans can visit the German Football Museum in Dortmund and, for example, admire the original match ball from the 1972 UEFA European Championship Final.
